Alaverdi “Babyface Killer” Ramazanov is confident he will showcase his unique style of striking on 6 December at ONE: MARK OF GREATNESS when he squares off with “Muay Thai Boy” Zhang Chenglong in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for the inaugural ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Title.
The “Babyface Killer” was born and raised in Kizlyar, Dagestan, where he grew up swimming competitively. When he turned 13, he switched to Muay Thai to test his athleticism intensively.
Five years later, Ramazanov made his professional debut, going on to win the majority of his matches throughout his career. Looking to further his unique skill set, Ramazanov moved to the birthplace of the “art of eight limbs” and began training full-time at the Venum Training Camp Thailand.There, Ramazanov had access to a wealth of knowledge and experience in different styles of fighting.
“Everyone says I have a unique style and different techniques from other fighters,” Ramazanov said.
“My style is awkward and that makes it difficult for other fighters. Ever since I can remember, I have always fought this way. I have worked on my speed and footwork. I like this way of fighting and I have tried to develop that style.”
By integrating the new skills he acquired from Thailand to his current arsenal, Ramazanov was able to increase the efficiency of his training, and broaden his skill set.
“The Thai style mostly focuses on kicks, while the Russian style is a European one that emphasis boxing,” Ramazanov said.
“In the last two years, I have learned to combine the two. I have been working on putting my kicks and punches together. I have chosen trainers who can help me do that and it has helped me in my preparations.”
The Dagestani striker put on a kickboxing clinic in August by dominating Ognjen Topic to earn a first-round technical knockout victory. For his upcoming bout with Zhang, Ramazanov headed back to Thailand to polish his skills.
“I came back to Asia to prepare for this bout,” he said. “The training here is intense, and I want to be absolutely ready for this contest.”
With the opportunity of becoming the first ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Champion, Ramazanov plans to go all out to fulfill his dreams.
“Competing for a ONE World Title has been my goal for a while,” Ramazanov said. “Now that I have this opportunity, I do not want to take any chances. I am ready. I am ready for this.”
