Conor McGregor Saves SBG Portarlington From Closing

Conor McGregor has stepped in to save SBG Portarlington from closing for good.

Two days ago Philip Mulpeter posted on the SBG Portarlington Facebook page that gym was closing the doors for the very last time

Tonight, we close our doors in the gym for the last time. Unfortunately, we are forced to shut our gym down. To say I’m heartbroken is an understatement. The covid pandemic has been tough on us all and we can no longer keep the gym going. Due to mounting rent bills during lockdowns we just can’t sustain.
To our staff and coaches, Nicola, Killian, Arlene, Tom, Sharon, Noah, Dara & Jamie. You guys have been amazing and we couldn’t have done it without you.
To our faithful members throughout the last 4 years. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. I’ve seen some of you grow from shy kids, lacking confidence to now competing in teens and adult competitions in Ireland, Europe and the world.
Hopefully, when the vaccine is rolled out and our lives go back to some form of normality, we can get a new premises and rebuild SBG Port once again. Until then thank you again to each and every one of you.
Phil & Alvina ❤
Then yesterday another post appeared on the page stating.
From the lowest low to the highest high.
WE ARE NOT CLOSING!!

Our team-mate and friend

has decided to help us out and keep the gym running. We will be eternally grateful 🙏

To everyone that messaged and got in touch with us to show your support, thank you all so much.
See you all on the mats.
Oss!!
McGregor and Mulpeter go way back and used to train together before anyone had ever heard of McGregor and is a great touch by McGregor to help his old friend out.
