ose ‘’Shorty’’ Torres saw a last-minute change of his opponent in the BRAVE CF Flyweight tournament. He was supposed to rematch Sean Santella, this Thursday, March 25th, at BRAVE CF 49: Super Fights, but now will face Blaine O’Driscoll, after Santella pulled out due to injury.

Torres revealed he was offered a bye into the semifinals, due to Santella pulling out, but instead opted to fight for his spot, which earned him praise from BRAVE CF president Mohammed Shahid, who hailed Jose’s ‘’warrior spirit’’. The American explained the thought process behind the decision.

‘’They said you can go into the next round or you can fight this guy, Blaine O’Driscoll. And for me, I want to fight, I don’t want anything handed to me on a silver platter. I grew up in the neighbourhoods of Chicago, where I always had to fight. And I fought to get out of there’’, said Torres, who also sent a message to his new opponent.

‘’Blaine wanted to make this a Catchweight of 61kg, even though this is the Flyweight tournament…I just want to fight, I don’t care who it is, at what weight (…) It’s an honor to fight him because he has a warrior spirit, so no excuses’’.
