That didn’t take long. Just hours ago we announced that Bellator had allowed Eddie Alvarez to leave his contract. Now the UFC have announced they finally signed him.
Long considered the best lightweight fighter outside the UFC, the 30-year old Eddie Alvarez will now get his opportunity to test himself in the UFC.
So who will welcome Alvarez to the octagon? None other that Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in the co-main event of UFC 178 next month. Cerrone was originally set to face Bobby Green. Green will now face a yet-to-be-announced opponent in November.
This is a huge step but one that needed to happen for Alvarez. Fans will finally get an answer to the debate of who is the best lightweight in the world.
UFC 178 takes place on September 27 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
