Market Mayhem 3 Results

On a cold night in Caernafon, North Wales. Market Mayhem returned for a night of Kickboxing, K1 & MMA. Market Mayhem is a show brought to you by Kickboxing association W.U.M.A,Pritchards Martial arts and Edgehill martial Arts.

From top to bottom the card was stacked with local talent, and none of the bouts disappointed. There were submissions, knockouts and all out wars. From the first bout which was a back and forth grappling match between caernafon based PMA fighter Gethin Wavel and Headhunterz MMA’s David Jenkins, after the first round Jenkins looked to be upsetting the home town crowd, early in the second round however, Wavel latched onto a Guillotine causing a tap out from mount in my Submission of the night.

This set the tone with hometown fighters putting on thrilling performances. There were close decisions that had the judges divided, and some which were clear-cut throughout the night, everyone putting everything on the line, there was even Chris Miller who turned up in speedos and slapped his opppnent from the mounted position before armbarring him.

My KO of the night came from veteran MMA Fighter Danny Williams, fighting under K1 rules he came In and starched his opponent with a series of heavy hooks resulting in several knockdowns, including the final crumpling blow causing the referee Richard Oram to step in.

In the final few bouts of the night PMA & Headhunterz met again in another MMA about where again after a close exciting first round Tomos Ellis of PMA managed to put away Shane Jones of Headhunterz by Rear Naked Choke.

The final two Kickboxing bouts saw PMA take two titles home as Peris Tecwyn out pointed Darren Baker fighter Sean Morris. In the final bout Hometown favourite, Marvin Pritchard took on a very game Mark ‘iceman’ Smith. Over 5 rounds Pritchard battered Smith repeatedly with combinations, however every time he looked like getting the finish, Smith dug deep to fire back landing shots of his own. The score card read 50-45 for Pritchard, but this didn’t show the heart or chin of his opponent, clearly my fight of the night. Market Mayhem returns next year, if you can make it, grab a ticket!
