Jim Miller
This one makes a lot of sense as Jim Miller has started to pick up a bit of momentum for the first time in a while and has managed to rack up a few submission victories, not in the same divisional standing as he had previously been circa 2011 he is still one that is dangerous. This is a grappling fan’s fight to see due to the wrestling pressure and solid defensive ability for Ray, with Ray winning on shows like Polaris it is evident that he is improving at a drastic rate on the ground, this would be a solid test to see if Ray could crack into the Top 15.
Charles Oliveira
Having won 6 straight fights, all by finish within 2 rounds this would be the most dangerous fight option for Ray moving forward as Oliveira is legitimate everywhere and would have a clear Jiu-Jitsu advantage over Ray, with Ray likely having superior wrestling and the striking being debatable. This would be a solid test for Ray and if he was to win would likely see himself fighting someone in the top 10 after this fight.
Drew Dober/Nasrat Haqparast Winner
This matchup would be compelling as both men have a lot of high level experience and are solid in all areas of the game, although not one that propels anyone into the top 10 it is definitely a match that would be worth watching, as the skill level would be staggeringly high, with the winner not moving too far up the ladder but likely to get a top 15 opponent with a victory.
James Vick
James Vick was recently in a position where he thought he was one of the best in the World, it became evident that the World of Mixed Martial Arts was not where he was the best in the World, losing numerous times in a row it would make sense for him to move back down to Lightweight as his chin won’t hold up at Welterweight. Ray would be a solid matchup as it will mean that Ray will either be able to get his name out there by defeating Vick or Vick could get back on the win tracks against a lesser-known name, but a very solid opponent.
Rustam Khabilov
The World Sambo Champion and training partner of Khabib Nurmagomedov is one tough customer who has some of the most elite level grappling in the division. It would be interesting to see where Ray stands with his offensive Jiu-Jitsu, submission defence and striking. This could very well play out on the feet which could be intriguing.
