What is next for the UFC 155 pound division

The UFC‘s 155-pound weight class has consistently been one of the most exciting divisions in the UFC since the says of the prodigy BJ Penn, we have seen some of the sports most legendary and popular fighters who held the strap and went on to have hall of fame worthy careers.

It’s been 2 months since we last saw Charles Oliveira win the 155-pound belt when he knocked out challenger Michael Chandler at UFC 262. The BJJ black belt scored the biggest win of his tenured career after going 9-1 in his last 10 fights (28 total with the UFC). While it may still be too early for an official opponent, “Do Bronx” has a long list of possible contenders.

As far as the rankings are concerned #’s 1-5 are Dustin Poirier, Justin Gaethje, Beneil Dariush, Michael Chandler, and Conor Mcgregor. There are several upcoming matchups with possible title implications on the line with Conor taking on Dustin this weekend, as well as talks of a possible fight between Chandler vs Gaethje. The only one that currently matched up is that of Beneil Dariush who previously beat Tony Ferguson and extended his win streak to 7.

One name to look out for is that of Islam Makhachev who is currently ranked #9 but is on a 7 fight win streak and sports a 19-1 record. While most fans would rather see the return of former undefeated champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. There have been consistent reports that the “the eagle” is happily retired and not in a hurry to put the gloves back on.
