In an unfortunate set of news, former UFC and TUF 1 contestant Mike “Quick” Swick has announced what he calls his “toughest and most aggressive battle” against cancer.
Mike has openly spoken about his recent chemotherapy treatment through his social media and even opened up that he unknowingly had the disease for over 7 months without even knowing. Fortunately, Mike has always been in incredible shape as a fighter and also in retirement, he has always shown tremendous heart in everything he does and has the mental fortitude needed when going through an ordeal such as this.
Mike fought 21 times in MMA going 15-6 from 1999 to 2015. He was on the cast of the first season of TUF and went on to become a fan favourite with his willingness to fight anyone along with a style that ensured 11 finishes in his illustrious career. He eventually ventured into podcasting and other successful ventures after retiring.
From everyone at MMA UK, we wish Mike a speedy recovery and all the best.
