Bobby Chikavhu – “This is gonna be a good scrap”

Fightstar Championship 23 will be full of epic battles, tests of might and skill. But there will be another battle you’ll not want to miss, the battle of the undefeated amateurs in Bobby Chikavhu vs Delffy Humer.

Both representing two of the fiercest MMA gyms in the UK in London Shootfighters and Great Britain Top Team, they will put their undefeated record on the line in the Flyweight division.

I took a trip down to London Shootfighters to grab a chat with Bobby in the build-up to his inclusion in the capital.

Bobby Chikavhu (1-0-0) is a Zimbabwean amateur Mixed Martial Artist currently competing in the Flyweight division, representing London Shootfighters. He is set to take his second step on his amateur journey on November 19th, as well as his second appearance for Fightstar Championship.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to speak with me today Bobby and allowing me to visit you at London Shootfighters as you prepare for your inclusion to the Fightstar Championship 23 card.

“Thanks for having me, I appreciate it and I look forward to fighting again on Fightstar.”

Pleasure speaking with you again mate.

How has training been going in the build-up to your scheduled return to action?

“Training’s been good, I’ve been training everyday and training hard. I’m working with some very good fighter’s, some of which will be featured on the Fightstar card. I look forward to seeing them do their thing as well, as training’s been going well for everybody.”

From all I see from your team on socials that will be included, you are all going all out for the 19th.

How does it feel to not only be taking your second step on your amateur journey, but to also be taking it on where it all began for you at Fightstar Championship?

“It feels great, If I keep fighting there, I’m gonna be pretty popular at Fightstar. Maybe in the future, as a professional, I could still be fighting under the Fightstar banner. When you’re fighting regularly at a promotion, the commentators are aware of you so it will be a lot easier for them when they’re calling your fights. It’ll be fun looking back on these moments with the commentary.”

I’m definitely looking forward to witnessing your future outings with Fightstar, great to hear such dedication to a place that has given you a platform.

Your outstanding performance back at Fightstar Championship 22 in July was a debut all amateurs would dream of, securing victory in submissive fashion via Rear-naked-coke. As you edge closer to your scheduled return, what did you take from your 1st outing representing London Shootfighters in the capital?

“Nothing in there really surprised me as I was prepared for my opponent so well, the game-plan went exactly how we wanted it too. After that, I was just itching to get back in there, I was like man that was fun. Fighting in front of the crowd, people cheering for you. It’s the best feeling in the world, especially after you win. You feel invincible and just wanna jump back in there again, I’m so grateful to be able to do it again next month.”

Your debut saw London Shootfighters out in full force and securing many victories on Fightstars 22nd card to date, and FSC 23 will be no exception. A bigger force will be sent to the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre this time out and one half of the Main-Event will be representing you guys, it must be an amazing feeling to have such a huge inclusion this time out?

“Of course, I expect everybody who’s representing Shootfighters to put on a spectacular performance, I’ll be over the moon if we pull it off again”

I remember our chat after your bout, you could see how proud of your trwm you were.

Looking forward, you are set to face off against GB Top Team’s Delffy Humer. An exciting matchup in many ways, both of you being undefeated fighters as well as both representing 2 of the biggest MMA gyms in the country.

What do you make of Delffy in the build-up to your scheduled collision on November 19th?

“I Don’t know too much about Delffy, but I know he’s undefeated. To me that’s even better, because I get to be the one to take away his undefeated record. I did the same thing with my last opponent, if I take Delffy’s undefeated record away then who knows, maybe they’ll give me another undefeated fighter. It could become a thing, taking people’s 0’s away from them. That excites me, taking on another undefeated fighter, that motivates me more than if he had a loss or 2 already.”

It will definitely be a great opportunity for both of you.

Raj Singh and his team have worked day and night to make sure Fightstar Championship 23 is one of the biggest events in their long history. And with Fight announcements well under way  as well as a vast announced fighters to the card it is plain to see it most certainly will be.

Other than your inclusion on the night are there any confirmed bouts, or fighters added to the card that you’re looking forward to witnessing?

“Whoever London Shootfighters have on the card, they will definitely put on a show. You saw that at the last event, everybody won their fights and everybody finished their opponent’s. So this is what you can expect from us, we have some very talented fighters here.

I’ll be looking forward to once again catching you all out there once again mate.

It’s been an absolute pleasure speaking with you again today Bobby, and an incredible experience visiting you here.

“You’re welcome and thanks for coming, I appreciate you doing this interview as well. I was looking forward to this, and excited that we got to do this, I look forward to another one in the future.”

My pleasure mate.

Last but not least, do you have a message for the fans that will be in attendance and anybody you’d like to give a shout-out to?

“For the fans, you don’t wanna blink, you’ll miss out. This is gonna be a good scrap between 2 good fighter’s. Shout-out to the whole team at Shootfighters for all the work we’re putting in, shout-out to all the fans that are gonna be there supporting me, I appreciate you all.”

Catch Bobby and many more phenomenal warriors take centre stage at what’s shaping up to be an incredible fight card on November 19th at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre in London. Tickets will be made available from the fighters as well as via the Fightstar Championship Website here.
