Connan “The Barbarian” Murray 1-0-0 is an English professional Boxer. A professional competitor since 2021, representing Eco Fitness. He has professionally competed for Caged Steel as well as on the amateur circuit for the Doncaster based organisation.

I’d like to start this off by thanking you for taking the time to speak to me today Connan and also to congratulate you on your recent fight announcement with Caged Steel 28.

Last we saw you in action was back at Caged Steel 27 against Tom Doyle. A debut you or the sold-out crowd will not likely to forget anytime soon, destroying your opponent via KO/TKO 16 seconds in the very 1st round. Making this sort of statement on your professional debut must have been such a proud moment?

“It’s always nice to get an early night’s work, don’t get me wrong for the short time it lasted my team and I was happy with how I composed myself this fight all three shots were thrown was on the money as last fight was all a little wild so that’s all we can take from the last fight. Obviously from my position, you can’t ask for more. I think the viewers would have liked to see more but I can only beat what’s put in front of me. Fair play to Tom for stepping in to fight and showing a lot of heart trying to get up off those shots as a lot of people wouldn’t have tried to.”

March 19th you take your second step into your professional boxing Career and third into the CS cage with a yet to be announced opponent. How have preparations been going so far in the build-up to the upcoming war?

“Opponents are irrelevant with our preparation as a team, we prepare like every fight is against prime Mike Tyson. As soon as our last fight was done I had one day off then straight back in the gym. We train every day working on various aspects of my game to make me the best version of myself on fight night. No excuses.”

As previously stated you embark on the next stage of your professional journey, in the familiar surroundings of Doncaster. Many will be overjoyed upon hearing the news of your return, how did you feel when receiving the call to compete in the familiar surroundings of your amateur career?

“Doncaster has always been my home even though I have lived all over the country. Nothing makes me happier than fighting in front of my people and representing. Always overwhelmed by the amount of support our team generates, we are always trying to blag more tables to sell due to demand.”

Some would say that boxing is in unfamiliar surroundings where many MMA fighters go to war, but in recent years the inclusion has been spreading like wildfire across the UK and beyond. You are one of many fighters to have only practised the art within the cage. What’s your take on bouts taking place within the cage and would you recommend it to up and coming amateurs?

“Boxing as an amateur at a young age the crowds were pretty small in tiny venues. From my experience, the platform of mixing both creates a much bigger audience which I think is a fantastic experience for athletes and I support that, as more eyes are on both sports are only positive!”

Last but not least do you have a message for the fans that will be in attendance and anybody you’d like to shout out to?

“I would like to thank everyone in attendance. Your support means everything to me and it will always be such an overwhelming feeling to know how many people come to watch me and my team. expect maximum violence and the best barbarian yet.”
