UFC today announced that Robert Whiteford will fight Paul Redmond at UFC Scotland on July 18 at The SSE Hydro in Glasgow.

Whiteford has not fought since he earned a March unanimous-decision win over Daniel Pineda at UFC 171. It was the Scottish fighter’s first win in the UFC. In his UFC debut, he suffered a submission loss to Jim Hettes, which snapped a 10-fight winning streak.

Redmond made his UFC debut at UFC on Fox 14 in Sweden and lost to Mirsad Bektic after taking the fight on short notice.

Whiteford will now finally get the chance to fight in front of a home crowd, something he’s been longing for since childhood. In his own words; “I used to go to boxing fights as a teenager to watch Alex Arthur and Ricky Burns. The thing that stood out was the passion of the fans”, “There’s not a doubt in my mind I’ll be on the Glasgow show, no-one will stop me being on there.” “I can’t f***ing wait to blow the roof off that place”.

Tickets go on sale in may and information on them can be found here.
