Charlie Flanagan 2-1-0 is an English amateur Mixed Martial Artist currently competing in the Featherweight. An amateur competitor since 2020, representing Combat Performance and Reps MMA. He has solely competed for Preston based organisation UKFC over his fighting career.

I’d like to start this off by thanking you for taking the time to speak to me today Charlie. And I’d also like to congratulate you on your recent fight announcement with UKFC. I hope training camp has been going well in the build-up to your return to Preston?

“Yeah, training camp has been perfect so far, the last few weeks of training, then I’ll be ready to get back in there.”

The last we saw you in action was back in November 2021 against Jack Axworthy at UKFC17. Despite a phenomenal show of sheer determination in the Union Jack cage that night, you took your 1st loss on your amateur journey. What did you take from that all-out brawl?

“There were a few areas where I needed to improve on in that fight which I have been working on, I still believe I won the fight but it is what it is and we move on from it”

On March 12th, the fans at the Imperial Banqueting Suite North will yet again have the pleasure of witnessing your next step on the amateur circuit. Taking on Knuckleheads MMA’s Alex Gil, you will no doubt be looking to add yet another Digit to your impressive record so far with the Preston based organisation. Have you had the opportunity to do some research on your opponent leading up to your return?

“I have done a bit of research on Alex. I’ve watched his fight against Christian Tebbet, and know that he has experience in the cage.”

The UKFC has been your fighting ground since becoming a competitor back in 2020, this will be your 5th appearance for the organisation. I’ve spoken to many fighters representing this amazing show guided by Ste Nightingale and his team in the past few months and everyone has so many fond memories and praise for the fantastic work they have been doing for amateurs such as yourself. How does it feel to be part of one of the biggest platforms that have played host to so many warriors over the years?

“It feels good to be competing in one of the best shows in the UK and I am looking forward to stepping back in on the 12th of March.”

Many of your teammates will be in action that night as well as many other explosive fighters from all over the country. Other than your inclusion on the night are there any matchups in particular that you’re looking forward to witnessing?

“I’m looking forward to watching my teammates fight Corey fry and Zack fry, I’m also looking forward to watching Chris Morris defend his title.”

With UKFC18 right around the corner and UKFC19 already under construction, it’s going to be a busy year for athletes like Charlie to showcase what they have on the amateur scene. Keep a close eye out for announcements from the UKFC team on social platforms, you might just miss something special.
