Interview with Paul Taylor at Road to Contenders 5

Road to Contenders 5 promised fireworks on their return to London and that’s exactly what the fans of London got to witness. So many amazing fighters gave it their all to make their vigorous training paid off.

I caught up with Paul Taylor after his explosive 1st round TKO finish over Ashley Morris, to find out just what tonight meant to the MMA Kabashi amateur stand-out.

I’d like to start this off by congratulating you on that absolutely phenomenal performance Paul, how do you feel after you win tonight?

“Thank you, all I can do is thank my sensei. Everything I know is because of my sensei, I’ve gone a long time with him, been through a lot together, the good and the bad.”

Completely get that mate gratitude where gratitude is due, he must be very proud of you.

That was a well-fought 1st round finish on your part after the feeling-out process, was this the plan going into your inclusion tonight, to get it done in the 1st?

“The truth is, I was waiting for an opening. Right at the beginning of the match, I don’t know who you are, what you’re after if you’re gonna bring me down. He went in for the kick, his chin was open and I went for it.”

Resounding finish mate, congratulations again, definitely one of the best so far tonight for me.

Before you go to celebrate and take a well-deserved rest, is there anybody you’d like to give a shout-out to?

“The whole of the Kabashi team, my wife and all my guys that came down to see me thank you all.”
