Khabib won this award after retiring from MMA undefeated with a record of 29-0. Others up for this award were pole-vaulter Armand Duplantis, basketballer LeBron James, golfer Dustin Johnson, footballer Wendie Renard and boxer Katie Taylor, and becomes the first UFC fighter to win the award since it began in 1960.
Khabib is the only the fourth fighter to win the award after Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield and three-time winner Muhammad Ali.
