MMAUK can exclusively reveal that Inverness based MMA fighter Ross Houston is the latest Scottish fighter to sign with leading mixed martial arts promotion Cage Warriors, following the recent signing of Paull McBain.
The undefeated Houston (3-0) is scheduled to fight England’s Dylan McLoughlin, also 3-0, in a welterweight bout at Liverpool’s Echo Arena on Saturday April 1st.
Houston has already had one successful outing with Cage Warriors where he submitted Dane Morgan in the first round back in June 2016. However, the SBG Inverness fighter subsequently went back to the regional scene to fight for, and win, the On Top welterweight title. Now, the 26 year old is ready to take his MMA career to the next level and make a run for the Cage Warriors belt.
Houston said: “I am really excited to have the opportunity to fight for Cage Warriors again. From what I’ve seen of Dylan he prefers to keep the fight standing, but he fights out of Next Generation and they have a good jiu jitsu set up so he will be a well-rounded fighter.
“We are both 3-0, both had one fight in Cage Warriors and have a similar height and build – we are like a mirror image of each other – so this is going to be a really good fight.
“But I am confident in my skills. I am going to go to Liverpool to put on a performance. I will put this guy away within the distance and we will see what’s next for me.
“The plan is to get a few fights for Cage Warriors this year and keep moving up the ladder. There are some pretty big names within the welterweight division and I want to make a run for the belt”.
